Program Overview

The Livelihood and Economic Empowerment Program seeks to improve the economic resilience and self-reliance of youth, women, and caregivers from vulnerable communities. The program focuses on equipping participants with practical skills, financial knowledge, and entrepreneurial mindsets that enable them to generate sustainable incomes and improve household well-being. Recognizing the strong link between poverty, education, health, and gender inequality, Sustainable Futures Tanzania integrates economic empowerment with life skills, mentorship, and community support systems to create lasting change.

Our Focus Areas

The program prioritizes the following areas:

Skills Development and Vocational Readiness: Building practical and market-relevant skills that enhance employability and self-employment opportunities for youth and women.
Entrepreneurship and Small Business Support: Supporting participants to start or strengthen small income-generating activities through basic business training, mentoring, and peer learning.
Financial Literacy and Savings Culture: Promoting budgeting, saving, responsible borrowing, and household financial planning to strengthen economic decision-making.
Youth and Women Economic Inclusion: Addressing barriers that limit women and youth from accessing economic opportunities, leadership roles, and productive resources.
Linkages to Existing Opportunities: Connecting beneficiaries to local NGOs, training centers, community groups, and government livelihood programs.

Our Approach

We implement livelihood and economic empowerment activities through:

School and Community-Based Sessions: Conducting theory and practical learning sessions in schools, orphanages, and community spaces during parent meetings and youth hubs.
Peer Learning and Mentorship: Using peer mentors, youth champions, and experienced community members to share knowledge and real-life experiences.
Partnership-Driven Implementation: Collaborating with NGOs, community-based organizations, and local institutions to deliver activities at low cost and with greater reach.
Integrated Programming: Linking economic empowerment with education, mental health, gender equality, and climate-smart practices.
Digital and Media Engagement: Sharing livelihood tips, success stories, and opportunities through social media and

online platforms.

Expected Outcomes

Through this program, we aim to:
